The Pantokrator (almighty). His right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing. As the Word Incarnate, He holds a Gospel book. When the book is open, it signifies Christ as the Teacher; when it is closed, He is the Judge, with the final verdict known only to Himself. The skull is an indicator of Christ’ redemption of man’s fallen nature. Raising us from death and decay and bringing us forth unto the kingdom of heaven. The right sleeve has a print of a sword from the Byzantine empire. “For the Word of God is alive and active.
